On Saturday 23rd March, as part of the celebration of the re-ordering of
the Church, and again for the week beginning 23rd November 2002, we had a
'Prayer Garden'.
We were able to walk freely round themed areas with floral displays,
stopping to rest where we felt comfortable, where the Spirit moved us and
where we felt close to God.
With calm music playing the background, we were able to experience all
the senses in our prayers and reflect on the wonder of creation.
Each prayer area was quite different and interactive with relevant
Biblical quotations and prayers and with something to take away - a prayer,
a bookmark or a 'holding' cross.
Each area had a central cross reminding us Jesus is at the centre of our
lives. We also had several 'handheld crosses' which we could hold
in the palm of our hands, and through the sense of touch express our
prayers, our needs, and our love of Christ.
Each area was quite different; reminding us that our Lord meets us where
we are and together we go forward.
