Church Lads' & Church Girls' Brigade
The company continues to meet every two weeks on a Friday evening. The membership remains steady: The Martins (5-7 years) and Y Team (7-10 years) Sections are very lively but the JTC (10-13 years) and the Senior Corps (over 13 years) Sections are few in number.
Last year, we held various activities and events including a BBQ. The company is particularly grateful for the support of the Hazel Grove Rotary Club. We in turn helped with their Christmas collection around Hazel Grove and their “Plant a Crocus” project, the fruits of which will be seen in spring in the planted area of Torkington Park (opposite the “Bull's Head”) and in the War Memorial Gardens.
The regiment is planning a recruitment and awareness campaign (“Going for Growth”) during 2011 and 2012 that will entail a great deal of time and effort. In addition, we would like to start meeting every Friday evening but other commitments prevent it at the moment.
We really need to recruit more commissioned and warrant officers (male and female) to help with the work of the Brigade. If you are willing to consider a leadership role, will you please have a word with me (David Wood on 01625-872 002) or any other member of the company staff.
