"For you shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." (Isaiah 55)

Walking Plan

What began as one walk a month over 15 years ago, has become 40 walks each year. Distances range from 2 miles up to 10 or even more. If you would like to join us, you will be made most welcome.

I have just read again a thesis I wrote as part of my college P.E. course in 1956-58. It included a quote from the poet Longfellow:

I want air and sunshine and blue sky,
The feeling of the breezes upon my face,
The feeling of the turf beneath my feet
And no walls but the far mountain tops.
Then I am free and strong.

Little has changed after 55 years, although perhaps 'strong' should become 'exhilarated'.

This Month

Dropping down to "Peep o' day" from Chinley Churn, we came to a seat with these words engraved on it:

My feet are sore, my back still aches,
But my eyes enjoy what nature makes.
Here I pause to survey the scene
Now take my place... and know what I mean.

So we did!
