Norbury Walkers

Walking Plan

What began as one walk a month just over 12 years ago, has become 40 walks each year. Distances range from 2 miles up to 10 or even more. If you would like to join us, you will be made most welcome.

During 2008 we expect to follow this pattern:

• 1st Thursday: 3-4 miles
• 2nd Thursday: 7-8 miles
• 3rd Thursday: Freda's 2 mile strolls
• 5th Thursday: 10 miles

'The Walks must go on'

I am fortunate that my treatment includes daily walks so hopefully I will be back with you all very soon. Thanks to everyone at Norbury from Brian, Carolyn, Elaine and me, for all your support and prayers during recent weeks. We have been overwhelmed.

Pause for Thought

One of our walkers kindly bought me a card with these words from the windows of the Norman Chapel when a walk ended in Prestbury Parish Church:

When as a child I laughed and wept - Time crept.
When as a youth I dreamed and talked - Time walked.
When I became a full-grown man - Time ran.
As later I older grew - Time flew.
Soon I shall find while travelling on - Time gone.
Will Christ have saved my soul by then? Amen.

This Month

2nd October

By special request, Beryl and Reg Sykes (483 7990) will repeat their 4 mile Siddington walk with lunch at the Waggon & Horses. Meet 10am (note early start) in our church car park.

9th October

Roger Grimes (456 3098) will lead a 7-8 mile hike from Millersdale. Meet 10am at church and bring a picnic.

16th October

Sandra Fox (456 7049) is the leader for a 2 mile stroll to the Boar's Head for lunch. Catch 199 bus at 10:54am from the Rising Sun.

Brian and Alison Allerton (01663 732734) will lead an 8 mile ramble from Whaley Bridge Station. Catch the 199 bus at 9:54am from the Rising Sun. Picnic lunch.
