General
Norbury Parish Church has more than 50 committees, organisations and
teams, which operate under its umbrella.
Most activities are run by volunteers whose loyalty and dedication
contribute to its success. The structure of management throughout the
many ‘organisations’ is varied and does not conform to one
specific system. The whole spectrum of reporting and communicating to the
clergy and the PCC within the framework of the Church is both formal and
informal.
The current church officers and leaders of the various organisations of
Norbury Church are listed in each magazine.
Parochial Church Council
The PCC is the primary governing body of the church responsible for
decision making. Ordinary members are elected annually by church members
at the Annual General Meeting. The Clergy and Churchwardens are
automatically members by virtue of their office. Members of the Deanery
and Diocesan synods are also automatically PCC members. Meetings are held
monthly except that no meeting is held in August and the March or April
meeting may be replaced by the Annual General Meeting. Most of the
subcommittees listed below report to the PCC.
Standing Committee
The Standing Committee consists of the Vicar, Assistant Minister,
Churchwardens, PCC Secretary and PCC Treasurer. It normally meets monthly
to plan and review the agenda of the PCC and to make urgent decisions when
necessary.
Annual General Meeting
All church members are invited to the Annual General Meeting. Members
on the Electoral roll are also entitled to vote on resolutions put to the
meeting and to elect churchwardens and the members of the PCC. The meeting
considers and approves the written annual reports of accounts and
activities which are circulated prior to the meeting.
