The Mothers' Union
On 2nd November at 2.30pm, our “Tea & Chat” will be at the home of Margaret Percival 21 Holly Road, High Lane. All are welcome.
Our speaker on 16th November will be Mrs Carol Cross with HATPINS.
The Christmas Fair is on 26th November and we’ll welcome your goods and your support for our stall. Please send items to Faith Clarke or to me.
Tickets for our Christmas lunch on 12th December are available from Faith Clarke. The price of £7.50 includes good food, entertainment and friendship.

At our meeting on 14th November, our own Wendy Sykes will speak to us about her time as the MU World Wide Representative. This will be interesting, maybe surprising, when members realise the amount of time and effort which goes into being a MU representative. One of our many projects with which Wendy has been involved was the very successful “Africa Day” held in Alderley Edge in August in which the whole Chester Diocese participated.
Christmas lunch (12th December): we need payment and menu selection at the November meeting; places are still available and please say if transport is required.

The Mothers' Union, as well as being a wonderful Christian organisation to belong to in respect of meetings, with excellent comradeship, outings, supporting our branches worldwide and concerning ourselves with provocative issues of the day, is especially interested in social concern. We have debates on subjects such as abortion, domestic violence, drug abuse etc. and have some excellent publications.
Here at Norbury we are also very busy being practical; knitting teddies for tragedies, baby clothes for the Special Care Baby Unit at Macclesfield Hospital, blankets for Pat Richardson's orphanage in India and collecting stamps for the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Some of us help out with Parents and Tots and visit Styal Prison to look after the babies and we hold services in Shepley House and Edwards Court.
We are very fortunate to have two branches here at Norbury; the afternoon group and the evening group. Come to one of our meetings and 'try us out'. You are assured of a warm welcome.

Thursday 19th May: Diocesan Festival in Chester. A coach will be leaving Norbury at 9am for the service at 11am. Contact Irene Fox or Wendy Sykes if you wish to go. Cost £7.00.
Tuesday 24th May: Deanery Festival, Marple, 2pm. Please try to attend these special Festivals.
