Youth WorkerCatie-Anne Harper gave a very encouraging report on the activities of the youth of the church and in the local schools. The lunch time group Curious held at Hazel Grove High School has a core of twenty five attendees. April Performathon. This was an enjoyable day and raised much money for future youth activities. Different young people came and went throughout the day, learning new songs and taking part in an act of worship. The Pathfinders/Bridging Group meet on Sunday mornings, this group is filling a need for young people who have many questions about the Christian faith; however, more assistants are needed, both male and female, to keep this important group going. The car washing was successful and over £70.00 was raised. Norbury Children’s and Youth work PolicyThe policy was presented and discussed. In summary our policy is:- Central to our policy to be an inclusive church, we aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment for young people at Norbury Parish church, and we aim to give Christian families the confidence that their children may grow towards maturity in our church. We aim to encourage Christian commitment, growth towards maturity and a desire to serve young people associated with Norbury Church. |
Good news for those late for workIt is hoped that the church clock will soon be repaired and fully functional. Communion ServiceFollowing on from the successful Corpus Christi service in May, which used communion prayer D, it has been decided to use this prayer in future on the fifth Sundays where they occur. A new card will be produced but if you wish to see it in advance it is on page 194 in the black Common Worship book. FinanceThe finances for the first five months were presented. They show a small surplus but due to timing differences between income and associated expenditure a deficit of £30,000 for the year is still expected. Your prayers and donations are still needed. Church and Narthex BookingsBookings for the church and for the Narthex are now to be made through Elizabeth Olsson. Ann Tinson will take over the arrangements for people giving towards flowers in the church. Transforming WorshipVal Gilchrist and Alan Brown presented a report after attending at a course on Transforming Worship. The Liturgical Commission is preparing new texts for worship and is now looking at how music, dance and visual material can be used. Richard Crocker |
