The church annual meeting, now known as the Annual Parish Church Meeting, was held on 27th April, 2008. It followed a shortened Morning Worship, and almost 100 people attended.

Maureen Hughes was appointed Clerk to the meeting. It was reported that we now have 450 people on the church electoral roll, an increase of 21 over last year.

Our treasurer, David Scott, reported a drop of £19,800 in the overall balance for 2007. In general this was due to drop in the level of giving, because some church members had moved away, and others had died. We needed approximately £12.90 per church member per week to break even, and the actual amount received had been £11.50.

David Scott thanked those who had assisted him in his work, especially Per Olsson (assistant treasurer) and Victoria Fryman (independent examiner). Victoria has done this work for several years and is unlikely to be able to do it again next year. David Scott himself was given a heartfelt vote of thanks for his dedicated and effective work in dealing with the church accounts.

Churchwardens. Michael Cheslett and Jill Elsby were elected unopposed. They were thanked for their hard work. They had completed five years as churchwardens.

A special resolution was needed to enable them to stand for office again at the 2009 APCM. The meeting unanimously approved that they should be able to stand for a further two years in order to ensure continuity for a new vicar.
