Youth Worker. Catie-Anne gave a very encouraging report on youth activities at Norbury. £250.00 was raised on a sponsored twenty-four hour famine by 14 members of the youth group. In addition, £66.22 was raised with The Night at the Musicals when all were invited to sing along to their favourite musicals. Contact with Hazel Grove High School continues to develop with lunch time meetings called Curious, with videos and talks on a Christian theme. Attendance is anything between fifteen and thirty depending on the weather. Special services are planned for Palm Sunday with emphasis on youth but adhering to a traditional liturgy. Accounts. The accounts for 2006 were presented by David Scott and approved by the PCC. They showed a deficit of £3,936. The budget for 2007 shows an expected deficit of £19,000. Concern was expressed at the size of the deficit. It was reported that a member of the Diocesan staff who has experience in fund raising, would be invited to visit the parish to advise the PCC, on strategies to encourage increased giving. Still Point. On the fourth Tuesday of each month starting on 24th April, there will be a chance to meet in church for approximately forty-five minutes of peace and reflection starting at 7.30 pm. The theme for the first meeting will be Peter by the lake side. The second meeting will be on 22nd May. |
Repairs and renewals. Good news for all those who have been arriving late for work. The clock in the tower is in the process of being repaired. Incidentally, does anyone know a good silversmith who can repair and maintain the chalices and vases on the altar? Back to church. 30th September 2007 has been designated as Back to Church Sunday by Chester Diocese. Details are still to come; however, in other dioceses where this has occurred the day provides an opportunity for church members to invite friends to attend a special service on that day. Music workshop. As we now have a number of people who lead music in our church it has been suggested that a music workshop be organised to receive ideas from a consultant on how the music at Norbury might be developed. Parents and Tots. Fiona Gray has resigned from running the Parents and Tots. The PCC thanked her for doing this work in such a committed and effective way for 3 years. This has been taken over by Cath Palmer until a new volunteer is found to take it on.
