Introduction
- Since I decided to go ahead and arrange a month of daily Bible studies
on King David, I have found the topic more fascinating that I had
anticipated, especially because of the detail, which is often very
vivid.
- I have looked on the internet to find out whether films have been made
of David. Apparently three were made in the second half of the 20th century
– one starring Richard Gere – but they don’t seem to have
made much impact. That is a pity, because surely this is a topic for a
great film.
- Some of the stories about David are very familiar to us, and this is a
chance to hear from over 20 members of our church, with lots of different
styles and viewpoints. It is also a chance to study together, as a church,
the life of a man who seems remarkably relevant to our lives 3,000 years
later.
- You may not agree with everything that our contributors have written,
but you can use these readings and the comments about them to decide for
yourself what they might mean for you. Above all, let God speak to you
through the message of the Bible.
- It would be very helpful if we could all read these studies on the same
day, so that, as a church, we are allowing God’s word to speak to us.
The date is given just before the Bible reading for that day. (Sundays are
omitted.)
