Bible Study - Philippians 4:4-7

Read Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice! Not always easy in the various situations in which we find ourselves, but what abut the words that follow? We are to Rejoice in the Lord, the one who came to earth to bear our sins on the cross, who rose from the dead and is alive for evermore. He knows all about us and promises to be with us always whatever our circumstances. Shouldn't all that give us cause to rejoice?
Paul, who wrote this letter to the Philippian Christians had suffered persecutions of many kinds (see 2 Corinthians 11:23-28) and at the time of writing he was under house arrest in Rome and yet it is a joyful letter. (Why not read all four chapters!)
Knowing that the Philippians also faced persecutions, Paul goes on in this passage to exhort them to take every situation to God in prayer; for he had learnt that prayer with thanksgiving is the antidote to worry, and it leads to the inner tranquillity that comes to the believer when all is committed to God.
Praise my soul, the King of Heaven;
To his feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like thee his praise should sing?
To think about
Have you learned to follow Paul's example to rejoice in the Lord whatever your circumstances?
And what about the peace that passes all understanding?
Is that a reality for you?
Prayer
Father, keep me ever mindful of what you have done for me in Christ. Help me always to rejoice in him. Amen.
