Rev Frederick Alexander Screeton M.A. - May 1918 to August 1919

Although Mr Screeton's ministry was so tragically short, it cannot go by without comment, for a new era had dawned at Norbury. His genial personality and enthusiasm soon reawakened the parish life that had lain dormant for so long.

The Parishioners, encouraged by their new Vicar set about the task of raising funds for the chancel which was to be a memorial to those young men of Norbury who had not returned from the war, and at the same time reseat the galleries and carry out other alterations that would bring the church up to date.

The Parish magazine, that had lapsed prior to 1914, was again brought into circulation with the January issue of 1919. In April of that year Mr Screeton encouraged the formation of a Boy Scout Group at Norbury.

An event in his family life, whilst he was the Vicar of Norbury, was the birth of his only son,,who was christened Paul Norbury. Mrs Screeton was an accomplished needlewoman.

However, the ministry that had started with such high hopes, was sadly brought to an end, when Mr Screeton after undergoing an unsuccessful operation died on the 1st of August 1919.
