Hazel Grove Churches Together Lenten Course, 2010
24th February 2010
to 24th March 2010
Wednesday 7:30pm

The various churches in Hazel Grove will be coming together this Lent for some sessions of reflection, prayer and discussion, using one of the short 'York Courses'. Lent is a season of preparation for Holy Week and Easter, and it's good to set aside a little time in our busy lives for reflection and study, as well as to meet with friends from other churches.

24th February - Norbury Parish Church
3rd March - Baptist Church
10th March - St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church
17th March - Hazel Grove Methodist Church
24th March - Hazel Grove United Reformed Church
All the meetings begin at 7.30pm.

Do join us for what we hope will be a stimulating and thought-provoking course. All are most welcome, whether you're new to church or a long-time member. And don't worry if you cannot make all the sessions, it's fine to dip in to some if you are double-booked some weeks!

Holy Week Reflections
29th March 2010
to 1st April 2010
7pm

2nd April 2010
Friday 2pm-3pm

Holy Week provides an opportunity for us to travel with Jesus through the last week of his earthly life and reflect on what his patient suffering and death on the cross mean for us. This year we will be focusing our daily reflections on the story of the Passion of Jesus as told by Mark.

Starting on the Monday before Easter through to Maundy Thursday there will be a reflection each evening at 7.00pm (which will last about 25 minutes). Three concluding reflections, focusing on the crucifixion itself, will form part of the Good Friday meditation at 2pm. Details of the daily reflections, including the passages being considered each day, are as follows - you are encouraged to read the relevant passage beforehand if you can. As always, everybody is most welcome (if you can't come every day, don't worry, just come when you can).

Mon 29th March - Mark 14 v 32-42 - 'The anguish'
Tues 30th March - Mark 14 v 43-52 - 'The arrest'
Wed 31st March - Mark 14 v 53-65 - 'The accusation'
Thurs 1st April - Mark 14 v 27-31, 66-72 - 'The abandonment'

Good Friday, 2nd April: (2pm-3pm)
Mark 15 v 1-15 - 'The adjudication'
Mark 15 v 16-32 - 'The abuse'
Mark 15 v 33-47 - 'The atonement'

Annual Parish Church Meeting
19th April 2010
Monday 7:45pm
Legh Room

This is the meeting at which we elect churchwardens, PCC members and others, and when we look back over the year just ended, and look forward to the year ahead. (All those on the church Electoral Roll are eligible to vote).

The Church Electoral Roll is the official list of church members, and we update it regularly, and especially before the Annual Meeting. Please do add your name to the list, if you're not already on it. Any baptised person who lives in the parish, or who lives outside the parish but has been attending worship regularly here for 6 months, is entitled to appear on the roll. It's an important record, but also a significant sign of belonging. All you have to do is sign a very simple form, which you can get from Elizabeth at the church office (0161 483 6325), or from the table in the narthex.
